"Lingvocide" is an interactive memorial to Russification in Ukraine, created during the Russian-Ukrainian War in 2022.The memorial is intended to demonstrate the extent of cultural colonization policy by subtly weaving the historical narrative into everyday life.
Visitors to the memorial must come to their own conclusions about why it "happened historically" that Ukraine has a large Russian-speaking population.The memorial consists of a series of graphic plaques placed close to each other in the heart of Kyiv, as well as a mobile application that connects them all.
The plaques are placed near everyday locations and depict the oppression of the Ukrainian language associated with them—bans on Ukrainian schools, books, religious services, and so on.You can not only collect locations and read descriptions of each such prohibition in the app, but you can also find voiced over excursion routes.This will help in viewing Russification as a deliberate, consistent policy over the centuries, and get rid of it just as consciously and consistently.Install the "Lingvocide" app from the App Store or Google Play on your smartphone to learn more.The project was created by the NGO "Valentnist.
